In his J6 committee testimony, Ray Epps tried to associate himself with the "peace-loving people" on January 6th as he played down a message he sent taking credit for "orchestration". However, the evidence shows he had a more direct role than even just encouraging people to get to and into the Capitol.
When the riot began at ~12:50 with an assault on the police at the Capitol Grounds perimeter, Epps was seen whispering in the ear of one of the violent rioters, Ryan Samsel.
Later on in the riot, Ray Epps was spotted helping push a large metal sign into the police line on the West Plaza. At least four others have been charged with felony assault with a dangerous weapon for this incident, but Epps remains uncharged.
Ray Epps has still managed to attract defenders in the mainstream media and on the January 6th committee despite playing a provocateur role at the Capitol Riot.
